Natural Herbal Skincare - Part one

Products drawn from nature have been used for centuries
for their healing and soothing properties

This is the first part of an ongoing series that gives you quick insights into the traditional uses of a variety of herbs and natural skin care ingredients. This issue we're looking at lavender, calendula, honey and chamomile:

Lavender

Lavender - as used in Celtic Herbal soaps, bath oils and sea salts.

Lavender is the most widely used essential oil due to its soothing scent and potent antibacterial properties. Used to relive stress and promote natural sleep (particularly for restless babies) lavender also encourages skin renewal and is even used by herablists to treat minor burns.

At Celtic Herbal we use the soothing properties of lavender in our handmade soaps, luxurious bath oils and relaxing sea salts.

Calendla, also known as Marigold

Calendula

Calendula (Also known as Marigold) was widely used in Indian and Arabic cultures as well as by the ancient Greeks. It is renown for its soothing and cooling properties and its ability to calm sensitive and delicate skin.

At Celtic Herbal we use Calendula extensively in our handmade soaps and baby products, particularly our Camomile and Calendula Nappy Cream, where its properties of healing, reliving itching and reducing swelling help to make your little one feel more comfortable.

Fresh honey - as used in Celtic herbal soaps and skincare

Honey

Cleopatra was a great believer in the therapeutic qualities of honey with its thick, natural elixir and golden sunshine colour. Honey is an effective moisturiser, antibiotic and skin rejuvenator and is rich in skin replenishing nutrients that that sooth the skin and help to heal minor impurities...More

Try a little of this natural moisture rich goodness for yourself in our caramel coloured Handmade Honey Soap.

Chamomile - as used in Celtic Herbal Baby Massage Oil with Chamomile and Calendula

Chamomile

Although more widely known for its use in calming the digestive system, the anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties contained in chamomile are beneficial for the skin.

The calming nature of this gentle herb soothes the skin and it is often used in natural hypoallergenic products and baby skincare such as our Baby Massage Oil with Chamomile and Calendula.
